The fourth album from Crystalline Dream, titled Seventh Chakra, takes its name from a concept in Indian mystical thought which supposes that the Seventh Chakra, also known as the Crown Chakra, is a spiritual energy center located at the top of the head associated with higher states of consciousness. Likewise, the accompanying album artwork conveys an ethereal translucence, while the music itself could be described as a mesmerizing confluence of earthy ambience and spacey electronics sculpted from keyboards, synthesizers, flutes, chimes, gongs, Tibetan prayer bells and finger cymbals, acoustic and electric guitar, vocal intonations, and various percussion. Created by versatile sound designer Richard Ross, Seventh Chakra also enlists the contributing talents of world-flutist Peter Phippen, guitarist Korey Ross and cellist Alex Kelly. Collectively they impart a trance-shamanic listening experience that seemingly hovers between the esoteric and psychedelic, as one feels like they’re being gently propelled through a liquid-like dream tunnel. An unbounded intermingling of organic ambient, sequencer-based electronic and traditional new age music, Seventh Chakra is arguably the best installment so far in the Crystalline Dream discography! ~Candice Michelle
